Foreword
In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, organisations recognise the importance of data-driven decision making to drive performance and maintain a competitive edge. Still, many are struggling to make headway. With the rapidly changing and volatile nature of today's workplace, a sense of uncertainty is the prevailing sentiment amongst leaders and employees. Restructuring, redundancies and making sense of the way people work has added a layer of ambiguity and complexity that requires foundational skills like resilience, adaptability and change management. Our findings show the strategic importance of fusing the development of technical and human skills to both effectively lead change and build organisational resilience to adapt to ongoing societal and technological change.
Drawing on insights from senior decision-makers and employees across various industries, this report highlights;
- The current state of data skills within organisations
- The challenges faced in bridging the data skills gap
- The necessary data and human skills required of a workforce to drive business growth and realise the transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
In the context of this report, the data skills gap refers to a shortage of expertise and proficiency in leveraging data for business transformation. By examining the interplay between data literacy, AI advancements, and human skills, this report provides comprehensive insights into the key factors contributing to data leadership and data strategy, fostering a culture of intelligent decision-making and ensuring sustained organisational growth and agility in a landscape that demands constant adaptation.
